Planting Profile and Avian Diversity in Taman Botani Negara, Shah Alam

Abstract
Limited research has quantified the effects of planting profiles on bird diversity in managed landscapes. This study aimed to assess the impacts of vegetation structure, plant composition, and canopy complexity on bird species richness and diversity; as well as their implications for avian abundance, distribution patterns, and foraging guilds across designated zones in Taman Botani Negara, Shah Alam. Vegetation profiling and standardized avifaunal point-count surveys were employed, alongside diversity indices and non-parametric statistical tests. Findings indicated significant inter-zonal variations (H = 8.24, p < 0.05), with canopy cover, vertical stratification, and native plant proportions emerging as key predictors of diversity.
